1. Who we are

This website and The Sharp Mind are provided by The Brain College, 1604 Walker St, Houston, TX 77010, United States. You can reach us at louis@thebraincollege.com.

2. What we collect

• When you buy The Sharp Mind: Stripe, our payment processor, collects your email address, your name, your country and your payment details on its secure checkout page. We receive your email address, name and country, the amount you paid and whether the payment succeeded. We never receive or store your full card number.
• Your order and its delivery: we keep a record of your order, your email address and the delivery of your book, including the emails we send you about it.
• When you write to us: if you email us, we receive your email address and your message. If you comment on our posts or send us a message on Instagram or Facebook, we receive your username and your message, and our replies are sent through Zernio.
• Website statistics: we count page visits and clicks on the buy buttons without cookies. Your browser keeps a random visit number in its session storage for up to 30 minutes, together with the campaign tags of the link you followed, for example which of our Instagram accounts sent you. We do not record your name, email address or IP address with these statistics. When you click a buy button, this visit number is passed to Stripe with your order. If you complete the purchase, we store it with your order record, so we can see which page and campaign led to the sale.
• Technical information: like every website, our hosting provider handles standard technical information, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver the page and keep it secure. The page's fonts load from Google Fonts, which also receives your IP address.

3. How we use it

• to take your payment and deliver your book, by download and by email;
• to answer your questions and help you with your order;
• to see which pages and campaigns bring readers to the book and lead to purchases, so we can improve them;
• to keep this website and your payment secure and to prevent fraud;
• to keep the records that tax and accounting law require.

We use your information to provide what you asked for, to run and improve our small business safely, and to meet our legal obligations.

4. No newsletter, and we never sell your data

We do not run a newsletter and we do not add you to any mailing list. The only emails we send you are about your order and replies to your messages. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

5. Cookies

This website does not use cookies or advertising pixels. Stripe's checkout page, which Stripe runs, uses its own cookies to process payments securely and to prevent fraud.

6. Who helps us

We share only what each provider needs to do its job for us:

• Stripe processes payments.
• Google Workspace sends and receives our email.
• Railway hosts this website.
• Supabase stores our order records and the book files.
• Zernio sends our replies to comments and messages on Instagram and Facebook.
• Google Fonts serves the fonts this website uses.

Instagram and Facebook are run by Meta under their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.

7. Where your information is processed

We are based in the United States. Our providers may process your information in the United States and in other countries.

8. How long we keep it

We keep order, payment and delivery records for as long as we need them to deliver and support your purchase, and for as long as tax and accounting law requires, usually up to seven years. We keep messages and emails for as long as we need them to help you. The website statistics contain no contact details; if you buy, your visit number and its campaign tags are kept with your order record.

9. Your choices and rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it by emailing louis@thebraincollege.com. We will reply within 30 days. We may need to keep some records, such as payment records, where the law requires it.

Depending on where you live, for example in California, the European Union or the United Kingdom, you may have further rights, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority. We will never treat you differently for using these rights.

10. Security

This website uses encrypted connections, the book files are kept in private storage, and download links expire. Access to customer records is limited to what is needed to run the business. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

11. Children

This website and The Sharp Mind are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will publish the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top.
